My Story
I was so lucky that someone spotted me looking disoriented on the road and called Currumbin Wildlife Hospital. I was so unwell and alone – like many of my friends, I was sick from Chlamydia. When left untreated, this disease can mean blindness, infection, infertility, and even death for Koalas like me.

Vet Tina and Vet Nurse Tash took great care of me during my medical assessment, and now I’m going to spend some time recovering in Koala Rehab before they send me back on my way to the wild. But not every Koala is as lucky as I was.

My Story
Being in the wrong place at the wrong time nearly cost me my life. I was trying to cross a busy highway when I was hit by a car, which meant I suffered major abdominal trauma.

It was a terrifying experience, but luckily I was brought to Currumbin Wildlife Hospital where the team gave me life-saving surgery.

Why Your Support Matters
Chlamydia is the most common disease and threat to wild Koalas, with infection rates in some parts of Australia as high as 90%. It costs Currumbin Wildlife Hospital approximately $7000 to treat one Koala suffering from chlamydia and can take up to 10 weeks of treatment.
A new vaccine from Queensland University of Technology has seen a lot of success so far, with 400+ Koalas vaccinated to date. The best part? It only costs $42 to vaccinate a Koala like me. This devastating disease needs to be stopped – but it can’t be done without your support.

Please, will you donate today to help stop Koalas from dying?
